Can you believe it? We have reached day 42 of 100 days of collage?!
If you’d like to do your own 100 days of collage why not join the Skill Share class HERE.
I have filled one art journal and have started a fresh new journal this week!

Day 36: Celestial Skies
In this class our challenge was to create a collage inspired by “the beauty of stars, galaxies, and celestial bodies.”
We were tasked to use metallic foils or glitter to simulate the brilliance of the night sky.
We were also encouraged to use dark, rich backgrounds to represent the night sky.
I incorporated metallic paint, glitter, and shiny papers to create the twinkling effect of stars and galaxies. I was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”.

This is why I chose to add the glittery swirls in the sky. The house was a picture from a colouring book. I think it looks like it was sitting on the edge of a cliff surrounded by the night sky.

Day 37: Watercolor Fusion
In this class we experimented with watercolours. We made a collage that incorporates paper decorated with water-colour paints.
We added salt to our wet water-colour papers to achieve intriguing, organic textures. We also experimented using water-colour paint and salt on a variety of papers. In my collage I also made papers using other water soluble mediums like mixed media gel sticks and Brusho.
I used the tissue paper as a background and then layered up the piece with water-colour circles. I cut the circles using a die-cutting machine.
Day 38: Creating Gelli Print Image Transfers
In day 38 we discovered how to incorporate image transfers into our collage. We created images with magazine pages on the gel plate.
I enjoyed experimenting with this technique as I struggled to do it on earlier attempts. I had mixed results with my prints but eventually pulled one I was pleased with! I layered up my print with some scraps leftover from other projects and added some gold circles with a stencil.

Day 39: Flights of Fantasy
In this class we were encouraged to Incorporate bird imagery into our collage. Birds are often used to symbolise freedom, hope, and creativity.
Birds can often represent the ability to rise above challenges and view life from a broader perspective. We were tasked to use a mix of bird images and other materials
like feathers, paper, fabric, and paint.
I did a double-page spread for this prompt as I found quite a few images of birds. I also used some feather imagery and some Picasso images. I found the text from magazines.

Day 40: Doors of Opportunities
In this class we dove into the rich symbolism of doors. We explored how they represent new opportunities and transitions.
I really enjoyed this prompt and made an interactive collage with an opening door!

I found the caravan image in an old magazine and the woman is a Picasso painting from a book. I made the background in a past lesson on printing with nature.
Day 41: Dynamic Stamped Backgrounds
in this session we explored using stamping techniques.
We learned how to layer stamps to build up backgrounds for our collages. We experimented
with layering different stamp patterns and colours to build depth and complexity.
I used a mixture of handmade and found stamps to my papers and ended up with the following collage.

Day 42: Mixed Media Medley
For the last day as usual we were tasked to combine any or all of this week’s prompts. I really enjoyed experimenting with image transfers. I included a transfer I did onto a book page. I also used some of the papers I made during the stamping session.

I hope you are enjoying all of my collages and the interpretations of the prompts! See you next week for Week 7 of my 100 day collage challenge!
