As a continuation from the painting I did of the butterflies from Florence’s natural history museum I decided to capture these iridescent beetles. I used the same process of watercolour painting topped with a bit of pencil crayon to add some details.

I have enjoyed using watercolours- a medium I’m not the most familiar with- to capture some of the small memories from our special holiday. I have also noticed that the motif of the butterfly has been appearing in my personal sketchbook. It is interesting to think about this symbol and what it signifies to me personally. I wonder if butterflies may appear more in future works?
