In this Sketchbook Revival session Janine Vangool “explores the creative possibilities of turning your sketchbook into a “text” book, while spending time with your thoughts to create personal messages (and more) using tactile, pre-digital lettering methods.”

During this session we watch Janine utilise a myriad of printing tools and techniques to add text and fonts to her sketchbook- through watching her process she invites the participants to try some of the techniques themselves.
During my experiments I used alphabet stamps, collage and stencils as different methods of creating text in my sketchbook, along with hand written script.

The free gift from Janine’s session was a really cool digital magazine of sorts that contains lots of text to inspire you and to print out and use in our own works. I enjoyed using different methods to create text in my work and I loved the professional video she produced.

Janine is the designer and publisher of UPPERCASE which is a publisher that creates high end magazines and books on the creative process. Be sure to check out Janine’s projects HERE.
