During one of the TAC sessions this summer we collaborated on a large group collage project. Each member of the group was tasked to bring in some pre cut images of their choosing to add to the piece. We gathered together and made the piece as a group and ended up creating a fabulous, surreal collage rich with inspiration!

The next part of the project was for each artist to make their own work inspired by the group collage. To begin I created this A2 sized drawing by selecting interesting segments of the collage and creating a new composition.

I then progressed the idea further by picking out the shapes and motifs I was most drawn to in my drawing and transferring them into gel plate mono print collages. I started by creating my own stencils and masks in the shape of key images- the rabbit lady, the vase, flowers, the bird and clouds.

I then had great fun creating these images with my stencils, masks and the gel plate. I used a mixture of gel plate mono printing and collage to create my images.

I’ve really enjoyed creating collaborative work with my friends at TAC and seeing in what ways I can be inspired by working with other artists. It’s also been interesting to see what images and motifs I have been drawn to and how these ideas link to other work and projects I’ve created this year.
